Thank you for considering our practice for your orthodontic treatment. I would like to take the opportunity to mention a few things frequently considered as you make your treatment decision and I encourage you to call if you have any additional questions.
* Dr. Osborne is a highly respected specialist in orthodontics; completing dental school and orthodontic graduate school. He is an instructor at UMKC's dental school and has been in practice over 20 years; he is member of the American Association of Orthodontist, Midwest Society of Orthodontist, and Greater Kansas City Dental Society and participates in post-graduate societies.
* Choose an orthodontist that has received their education from an accredited orthodontic graduate school.
* Choose an orthodontist with experience, not all treatment is "textbook".
* Dr. Osborne finalizes the placement of brackets on each patient; not the assistants.
* Dr. Osborne sees each patient for regular adjustments and he makes the necessary adjustments to the arch wires.
* Oral hygiene is monitored at each appointment and parents are informed if improvement is needed.
* Parents are always welcome in the treatment area to monitor the patient's progress and address any questions.
* All assistants are certified orthodontic assistants qualified in "Orthodontic Expanded Function" by the state of Missouri. They are qualified to replace loose or broken brackets, remove and replace arch wires provide emergency care, etc.
Dr. James Osborne, DDS graduated from the UMKC Dental School in 1972. After serving two years in the US Army Dental Corps, he graduated from the UMKC Graduate Orthodontic program with a specialty certificate in Orthodontics in 1976.
Dr. Osborne has been in practice in the Raytown and Lee's Summit areas since 1976. He has been very involved in both communities through the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, and Lee's Summit Optimists. Additionally Dr. Osborne is an instructor in the Graduate Orthodontic Program at the UMKC School of Dentistry, and has been involved in many dental organizations including: Past president of the Greater KC Dental Society, member and past president of the Missouri Society of Orthodontists, member and past president of the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists, member of the board of directors of the American Association of Orthodontics.
James is a very active person that enjoys all types of "outdoor" activities especially; biking, water skiing, swimming and fly-fishing in the mountains. He has completed several marathons, triathlons and long biking trips. He is a proud parent and grandparent with five children and four grandchildren. Regarding his staff, Dr. Osborne says, "I have a great staff that works together for the benefit of our patients to achieve quality orthodontic treatment in a friendly environment.
